Step by Step guide to product configuration in Salesforce CPQ

Create a Product

  • Navigate to Products. 
  • Click New and enter details like Product Name, Product Code, etc. 
  • Set the Standard Price and mark the product as Active
  • Save.

Configure Product Options

  • Scroll to Product Options and add related products. 
  • Define the option's quantity, discount, and set it as required if needed. 
  • Save.

Create Product Bundles (Optional)

  • Create a parent product as a bundle. 
  • Add components as options under Product Options
  • Use Option Constraints to manage dependencies between options.

Add to Price Book

  • Scroll to Price Book Entries and click New.
  • Select a Price Book and enter the price. 
  • Save the entry.

Set Up Product Rules (Optional)

  • Create rules for logic-based product selection under Product Rules
  • Define conditions and actions to guide users or restrict options.

Configure Dynamic Pricing (Optional)

  • Use Price Rules to create dynamic pricing logic. 
  • Associate rules with specific products.

Apply Discount Schedules (Optional)

  • Define volume-based discounts under Discount Schedules. 
  • Link them to products to apply automatic discounts.

Test Configuration

  • Create a quote.
  • Add your product
  • Verify product options, rules, and pricing.
